QUETTA: International Climate Global Trading Company (ICGTC) Chief Executive Officer Maxim Lavrov on Thursday expressed willingness to invest in the dilapidated water sector of the province.

The ICGTC CEO showed his interest during a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo at the CM House on Thursday.

CEO Lavrov briefed the CM regarding development of water reservoirs and storing water through modern technology.

He said, “The company is interested in investing in the water sector and is willing to ink a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Balochistan government.”

On provincial government’s efforts in resolving water issues, CM Bizenjo said, “The provincial government is taking effective measures to resolve the water shortage.”

He said, “There is a need to develop the water sector on modern lines so that the water level in dams can reach its previous position.”

Bizenjo applauded the UAE-based company’s interest in the water sector and assured the delegation that the provincial government would provide full cooperation.

On Wednesday, Pakistan’s Chief Justice Saqib Nisar summoned former chief ministers of Balochistan to explain what measures had been taken to end water scarcity in the province.
Observing that some water sources had dried up, Nisar said his visit to Balochistan’s capital Quetta had left him “dismayed,” adding: “The people of the province lack political vitality.”
